China Daily: Putin says Russia has nothing to fear from China

Russia has nothing to fear from China and worries that millions of Chinese will some day occupy vast swathes of Russian territory in the Far East are overblown, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Monday.

"There is no threat on the side of China. We have been neighbours for hundreds of years. We know how to respect each other," Putin told Russia experts from the Valdai discussion group at a meeting in the Black Sea resort of Sochi. "China does not have to populate the Far East to get what it needs - natural resources. We deliver oil and gas.

Plan on organ donations soonShanghai is working on a detailed regional plan under a national pilot program to better manage organ donations, prevent illegal organ sales and make sure organs are given to patients most in need of transplants, officials with the Shanghai Red Cross said yesterday.

The plan will force all hospitals to report their patients and demands for organs to the local Red Cross, which lists patients based on the urgency of their need for organs. Currently, organ distribution is mainly run by hospitals, which provide organ transplant service and get the organs through their own network.

China Daily: Radio and TV under a single companyChina on Tuesday said it intends to consolidate radio and television networks under a single national cable television network company.The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) said the new company will come up by the end of the year and will further expand into new businesses like mobile TV and online videos.

 

"The nation's radio and television networks need to be consolidated under one roof as currently they are individually run and have not developed into large-scale entities," said Tao Shiming, director of the SARFT's society administration bureau.
