Book launch on the 60th anniversary of Romanian-Chinese relationsSaturday, September the 26th, took place at the Titulescu House the launch of the volume “Chinese history and civilization. Romania and China”, written by Romanian sinologist Ion Buzatu, Romanian diplomat Ph.D. in history and, with a preface by Adrian Nastase, who is also the initiator if this project.
The event was also attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bucharest Mr. Liu Zengwen, professor George Potra and the president of the Senate’s External Politics Committee, din Senat, Titus Corlatean.
The launch was opened and moderated by professor George Potra, who appreciated that this is the first book of this kind dedicated to China and to Romanian-Chinese relations, a book “about perseverance and innovation, about the constructive force and the practical spirit of the Chinese people”, and also about “the provocation that is China for the world of the third milenia”. Launched on the 60th anniversary of Romanian-Chinese relations, the album reunites, in Mr. Potra’s opinion, “remarkable pages of bilateral relations”.
Book launch on the 60th anniversary of Romanian-Chinese relationsIn his turn, Mr. Adrian Nastase stressed that “we should not avoid getting to know the way in which China can support Romania’s future. In order to really come to know what is China – a society constantly changing and full of promises – it is first of all necessary to understand its past, its present, and, eventually, even its future”. Mr. Nastase recalled his experience as Romania’s prime-minister, concluding that “we need to turn to education and culture in order to prepare a new generation of young Romanian and Chinese people learning Chinese and, respectively, Romanian, who would realize a transfer of cultural models and especially of cultural knowledge from one country to another.”
Mr. Titus Corlatean contributed to the dialogue stating that “beyond everything that is political, strategic, economic relations, the thing that finally gives that essence of knowledge between two people is the cultural relation.”
“This book cold be a small reference book for a real knowledge of the history and evolution of Romanian-Chinese relations”, stated the author of the book, Mr. Ion Buzatu, reminding that “China was, is and will be a great power and nation”, concluding that: “The further development of active multilateral relations with China and with the Chinese people by means of a better understanding of the Chinese civilization history and realities cannot be but useful for our country in all spheres.”
